It's Popcorn Time!

We need to raise all of the money for the Pack budget this fall in order to take us through the next 12 months. This funding goes toward advancement patches and pins (over $200 in many months), Pinewood Derby cars, and many other things. Please help!

Personal Sales

Scouts should have received a full-color popcorn flyer in the mail in mid-August. If you have not, please contact one of our Pack Popcorn Coordinators:

Leslie McAndrew
866-7088
lsmcandrew@yahoo.com

or

Laurie Chadwell
644-6659
lgchadwell@aol.com

Flyers will also be available for pick-up at the Pack meeting on September 30. Scouts may start taking orders for personal sales at any time, based on the prices and product descriptions in the flyer. Please submit all personal orders through your respective den leaders. Personal-sales orders will be available to Den Leaders for pickup on November 6.

Some important Personal Sales dates to remember are:

October 18 - Deadline for individual orders from den leaders

November 6 - Individual order pick-up by dens

November 18 - Pack meeting; all money from individual orders due to Pack.

December 16 - Pack meeting; prize orders due from dens

You only need to sell $60 worth of popcorn (two to five items, depending on what they are) to earn a jacknife, 5-in-1 whistle, or personal radio. There are more valuable prizes for selling more popcorn. For more information on prizes, visit the National Capital Area Council Prizes and Rewards webpage here.

Selling tips:

Sell to extended family, friends, neighbors, at work.

Make sure you're familiar with the products before you start selling.

If you sell door-to-door:

 Wear your uniform.

• Get out soon, before the other Packs.

• Always sell with a buddy or an adult.

NEVER enter the home of someone you don't know unless you are with your parent.

Smile and introduce yourself. Look people in the eye and speak clearly.

• Tell people that it makes a great gift.

• Keep a list of houses where no one answers the door and go back later.

• If you have a copy of your order form from last year, contact those same people. Keep a copy of this year's order form for the same purpose next year.

Bear scouts: doing personal popcorn sales and keeping track of the orders yourself fulfills Bear Arrow Point elective 21(a).
