Small print department:

All times are estimates. Please plan to arrive early.

Pack 685 will send one car (racing) and two cars (style) from each Scout level (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos 1, Webelos 2) to the District Championship.

Please make sure to follow the rules. There have been changes to the district regulations that we follow, so read them carefully. Pay particular attention to these: weight cannot exceed 5.0 ounces on the official Pack 685 scale; length not over seven and three-eighths inches, width not to exceed two and three quarter inches. Wheelbase (fore-aft & side-side) measurements must not differ from the original block of wood. If you have questions about modifications to the car, call Bob Simmons for a ruling.

During Registration scouts will be asked to decide preference for speed or show. At the Pack level, all cars will compete in both categories. The boy's preference will only be used if his car qualifies for the district/awards in both categories. A car can only compete in one category at the district level.

We will need assistance with food service during the derby. Please plan to spend some time assisting the kitchen crew.

Please don't remove any cars on race day without checking with race officials first.

We want a fair, fun race and with your cooperation and help we will do just that. Good luck!

ALL scouts must register their car Friday night! No exceptions! When you arrive, look for the signs to tell you where to go. Find a "Derby Check-In Form." There will be blanks on the form for your son's name and den number. When the top part of the form is done, take it and your car to the officials' table. There your car will be measured, weighed, and checked for conformation to derby rules.

When the check-in official accepts your car, it will be sequestered. From that time until the derby is over, only derby officials will be allowed to touch your car. Do everything your car needs before taking it to the officials' table. We will have a pit area (a folding table set up over a drop cloth.) If you need to shave/drill off some weight, apply axle lube or use glue, please do your work in the pit area out of consideration for Westwood's carpet.

If you cannot make it to registration on Friday night, please make arrangements to have someone else register your car for you (such as your Den Leader or another Scout).
